Job Description

We are seeking talented Full Stack Developer to help drive our impact-oriented vision by ensuring our current marketplace prototype is ready for launch in Q2 2024. As a Full Stack Developer, you will be responsible for taking ownership over the full-stack development of our platform. You will be required to work closely with our product management and design teams to deliver high-quality, scalable, and user-friendly software solutions.

The technological platform is at the core of Axmed´s ambitious solution to provide healthcare providers in LMICs with as many medicines as possible, enabling significantly improved access to medicines for patients. We’re searching for an experienced and proactive Full Stack Developer who can work alongside the developing and designing team to evolve the current marketplace prototype as well as address any technical issues that may arise over the course of operations. Given the early stage of the company, the selected person will have a unique opportunity of driving the technology and growing in experience and leadership as the tech team grows over time. The person will also actively seek out other business opportunities that can improve our platform beyond the current offerings, including data and analytics powered solutions.

Our platform is built with Django, Next.js and PostgresSQL.

 

Key tasks and responsibilities: 

 

  1. Developing pixel-perfect user interfaces from Figma designs using Next.js, HTML, CSS, and JavaScript.
  2. Implement server-side logic and microservices/APIs using Django for seamless communication between the frontend and backend
  3. Collaborate with the CTO and the architecture guild to design a strong and sustainable architecture for the long-term success of the Axmed marketplace
  4. Building and maintaining PostgreSQL databases, optimizing queries, and ensuring data integrity and security.
  5. Collaborating with cross-functional teams to define, design, and implement new features and enhancements.
  6. Troubleshooting and debugging issues across the technology stack to ensure the reliability and performance of web applications.
  7. Writing efficient, reusable, and well-documented code following best practices and coding standards.
  8. Conducting code reviews and providing constructive feedback to other team members.
  9. Staying up-to-date with emerging technologies and best practices in web development and implementing them when appropriate.

Job location: Remote applicants are welcome to apply since our operations will be spread through different Low-And Middle-Income countries. Headquarters are based in Switzerland

 

Languages: Excellent command of the English language is a requirement. Other languages (i.e French) are an asset.

 

Work schedule: We are a young startup, so we focus on delivering results, not filling hours of work. However, as a reference, candidates can expect to normally work within normal office hours per week (Monday-Friday).

 

Interview Process: Candidates selected to start the interview with Axmed will be given an assignment to complete, which typically takes under 4 hours. Candidates will be given a few days for this part of the process. Following the assignment, there will be two interviews: a technical interview, which focuses on assessing the candidate’s technical skills and problem-solving abilities, and a soft skills interview, which evaluates the candidate’s communication, teamwork, and cultural fit within the organization. This comprehensive process ensures a well-rounded evaluation of each candidate’s qualifications and suitability for the role.

 

Salary: USD 50,000 – 75,000 depending on candidate’s profile and experience

Are you our next game-changer?

Requirements: 

  • Undergraduate degree – Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in fields such as Computer Science
  • At least 4 years of professional experience as a full stack developer, with a focus on backend development
  • Strong proficiency in Django and python, MySQL or PostgreSQL or similar technologies.
  • Experience in front-end libraries/frameworks, ideally React
  • Previous experience within cloud computing services for modern web application development (ideally AWS)
  • Familiarity with continuous integration and continuous delivery (CI/CD) pipelines and tools (e.g., Jenkins, GitLab CI/CD).
  • Proven track of delivery of microservices-based applications, with a keen eye on quality of services and code readability
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills, with a passion for writing clean, efficient code.
  • Passion for the mission of improving healthcare equity.

Nice to have: 

  • Experience with Next.js, particularly Next.js 13.
  • Experience with DevOps and Node.js is a big plus.
  • Proven track record in developing other platforms, marketplace experience will be an asset.
  • Strong leadership and team skills as the role has a lot of potential to grow in seniority with the organization.
  • Previous experience with Docker/Kubernetes or similar containerization technologies
  • Understanding of the healthcare industry or Low-And Middle-income countries is an asset.
