Patrice T. Matchaba, MD

Dr. Matchaba formerly led the Global Health & Corporate Responsibility for Novartis reporting to the Group CEO of Novartis and was a participating member of the Novartis Executive Committee. He also served as President of The Novartis US Foundation and Head of Corporate Responsibility, and he was a member of the Novartis US Corporate Executive Leadership Team. Throughout his career he has championed industry-leading transformations across LMIC markets and in the US.

Since joining Novartis, he held several executive roles of increasing responsibility, such as Global Head, Cardio-Metabolic Development; Therapeutic Area Head, Immunology and Infectious Diseases; Global Head, Drug Safety and Epidemiology; and Global Head, Integrated Development Functions and Regions, which included Global Clinical Operations, Development Informatics and technology.

Dr. Matchaba serves on the Last Mile Health Board and previously also served on The Capitals Coalition Board . He completed his medical training at the University of Zimbabwe, and is a fellow of the College of Obstetrics and Gynecology South Africa. In addition, he is a graduate of Harvard Business School’s Program for Management Development and was awarded and Honorary Doctorate in Science from the University of Stellenbosch.
